Fair use rationale for Image:ProvincialAirlines.jpg

edit

Image:ProvincialAirlines.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Provincial Airlines. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Renaming of page to PAL Airlines

edit

I have tried to rename the page to PAL Airlines, given it's "new" name, but the move cannot be completed due to a page on a defunct airline in South America. What next steps do you recommend? Renaming the old page to PAL Airlines (insert country of defunct airline) and then rename this page to PAL Airlines? Ren97 (talk) 15:39, 26 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

– Provincial Airlines rebranded to PAL Airlines as of June 24, 2016. This change is long overdue. Currently, the "PAL Airlines" article is about a Chilean carrier that declared bankruptcy in 2015. Due to the current use of the name, the Canadian airline is clearly WP:PTOPIC, at least through the "current usage" criterion. The Chilean airline operated scheduled services within Chile from 2009 to 2014, while the Canadian airline (albeit under its former name) has done so since 1980 - suggesting that it also meets the "long-term significance" requirement. There is an element of the Company's history that has been overlooked. That is specifically the aerial photography venture of the late 1980s. I think it would be worthwhile to include this - perhaps something like: "In the late 1980s a branch of the Atlantic Airways division was developed under the name of Geomatic Technologies Inc. This branch conducted aerial photography acquisition on behalf of provincial, federal, and private interests primarily in area of resource inventory including forestry, agriculture, seal, and capelin surveys."Gscottgillis (talk) 15:56, 16 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
