Referencing system

edit

I plan to work on this article now that it has survived AfD. I'd also like to improve the references, add citations and so on. Would anyone object if I changed the referencing system to list-defined at the same time? I'll probably do so in a day or two if no-one minds. No objection. Is there a template that can be placed at the top of the article, like {{Use dmy dates}}, that will indicate the citation referencing system to editors, but not show up in the text? --Bejnar (talk) 19:18, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yes, there's {{use list-defined references}}. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 22:22, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
User:Justlettersandnumbers: I really don't like that system. I guess I am not used to it. I am finding it very confusing and discouraging. I would like to expand the article to get it approved for RD, but I am very put off by this. Who thought it was a good idea to invent this system? Why do you prefer it to the other/more traditional system?Zigzig20s (talk) 09:52, 2 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Er, which bit? You don't like the references being collected in the References section, or you don't like the {{r}} template for citations? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:26, 2 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
I like this. It's what's most commonly used. I am growing discouraged that this won't end up in RD because we are dispirited by the reference formatting.Zigzig20s (talk) 02:28, 3 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
A disagreement over reference style shouldn't be allowed to discourage editing (though it often does). Why don't you just go ahead and make the edits you want to make? I'll probably then tidy up the references once you are done, if you don't mind? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 13:32, 14 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Bejnar! Do you have access to the Encyclopaedia Universalis? If so, would you very kindly email me the text of that article? I'd be grateful. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 22:22, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, I do not, as my reading French is poor. I asked my francophone friend but she did not either. The cited article by Hoet (2008) has a lot of text, I did not read all of it. --Bejnar (talk) 22:51, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Pictures of his sculptures

edit

Is it possible to upload at least one picture of a sculpture, possibly in fair use please?Zigzig20s (talk) 05:01, 2 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Section titles

edit

It is hard to believe possible, but Zigzig20s seems to think the section titles I had used here need to be "standardised", and what's more thinks it important enough to edit-war over. I don't agree on either count. I had entitled a section on Sow's life "Life" (it wasn't just about his early life), and section on his work, "Work". If there's any policy or guideline that forbids the use of such titles, please go ahead and cite it here. Thanks, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:24, 2 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Can we please follow the chronological order as we usually do? "early life", "career", "personal life and death", seems to be fairly standard.Zigzig20s (talk) 02:26, 3 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
What exactly is wrong with Life … Work … Death? It seems quite chronological to me. There'll need to be a Reception section, too, of course. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 13:20, 14 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
