Maybe a photo of his monument, if there is no portrait of him? Pustelnik (talk) 12:36, 23 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Error: Cape Horn

edit

The second paragraph is in error by stating that Kotzebue rounded Cape Horn (in South America) before heading on to Kamchatka. This should be corrected with better information on his voyage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Grigori0 (talkcontribs) 07:57, 18 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Pronunciation

edit

What is the correct pronunciation of the surname? Would the final vowel sound be the same as "u" with the umlaut marks (ü) in modern German? — QuicksilverT @ 18:58, 2 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Not sure if I can simulate a correct pronunciation in English; for my ears it would be: Kot-se-boo. It is correct that the combination "ue" usually means the German Umlaut "ü", but in some cases (e.g. in North-east German) the use of the vowel "e" marks a prolongation of the partner-vowel.
