I've read suggestions in unreliable sources that the combat injuries he got on the Eastern Front might have included eye damage or even loss but I've yet to find a genuinely reliable explanation. Probably best to take it as unknown. Keresaspa (talk) 00:35, 27 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
