GONG

I have removed "GONG in Croatia" as a Lasting legacy of OTPOR. GONG is a NGO that monitors elections in Croatia and nowdays in other parts of the wold. It was funded in 1997, way before OTPOR was created. Marko Jurcic

Fair use rationale for Image:Otpor FreeYourMind MTV jesen2000.jpg

Image:Otpor FreeYourMind MTV jesen2000.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:37, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Sources

The Guardian's article will be OK. I changed "will be remembered for emboldening" for "has become the model for" following this source, "will be" sounds as a crystal ball. Here are the sources I removed in case they are useful:

Please remember we should avoid blogs, specially if they make contentious claims about third parties. JRSP (talk) 20:29, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

The image Image:Oborona.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

With Gene Sharp, Srdja Popovic (Srđa Popović) in 2011, was named by Foreign Policy magazine to its list of top global thinkers.[1]

Unattributed direct quote

The following sentence, in the fifth paragraph of the "After Milosevic" section, is lifted verbatim from source 12/34 (the Carnegie Council report). It needs to be re-written and correctly attributed.

"Otpor boasted tremendous leverage in the months following Milosevic's resignation, but failed to focus it into permanent political or social structure in the new transitional and more democratic reality of Serbia. An intensely heterogeneous movement of leftists and conservatives, monarchists and republicans, nationalists and cosmopolitans, after Milosevic's departure, Otpor had lost the most important glue that bound it together." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahalterman (talkcontribs) 12:44, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved. (non-admin closure) — Newslinger talk 00:39, 25 July 2019 (UTC)

Otpor!Otpor – Every single source cited in the article (that is not dead link) refers to the organization as "Otpor" (i.e. without the exclamation mark). "Otpor!" is just a stylization used on posters and other promotional material, but even the organization itself used "Otpor" in writing. According to WP:SE7EN, characters that are not pronounced amd are included only for stylization should be avoided unless used by the majority of reliable sources. Vanjagenije (talk) 22:01, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

  • Support per nom. It's a logo. It makes no sense to reproduce it here when the movement was simply known as 'Otpor'. Iryna Harpy (talk) 07:04, 21 July 2019 (UTC)

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

OTPOR sponsored the CIA backed Arab Spring "revolutions" in 2011. They could not have closed down in 2004 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:540:C401:2D20:C57C:3751:6811:5D64 (talk) 01:42, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
