Naming of the castle edit

In the opening description of the castle it clearly states that the castle was named after a Venetian governor almost 100 years before Shakespeare’s famous play was written ( it even makes a speculation that the castle may have been the inspiration for Shakespeare when choosing the name Othello). This is great information and exactly what I’m looking for on Wikipedia, however, I’m confused with the information under the subsection history, where the author declares the exact opposite of what was said before that the castle is named after Shakespeare’s play! I’m not sure which is true (probably truth being this castle has absolutely nothing to do with Shakespeare’s play of the same name). The issue is how can the reader take any information given at all if such an egregious error is made in such a small entry. Colinomarra111 (talk) 05:54, 24 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

I was going to say a similar thing. From memory, the modern name of the castle comes from the British Cyprus era since it was an important castle in Cyprus while Shakespeare wrote. --Error (talk) 10:24, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
