I was diagnosed several years ago with chondronitis..my basic understanding is the inflamation of the ligaments particularliy in my case around the rib cage area. My symptoms generally included difficulty breathing as though someone is pressing on my diaphram. Additionally, I have this severe stabbing like pain in my back area of my ribs. It is sometimes accompanied by gas. I haven't found details on the causes and if there is any cure. I typically fight it by taking for a few days anti-inflammatory medication and professional massage.
