This article is based almost exclusively on Anatoly Zak's writings. I know that he's a great author and knows what he's talking about. I also understand that information about the project is hard to get. But I still think that we really need more sources. Offliner (talk) 22:05, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Project was cancelled

That article only says that the Rus-M launcher was cancelled, not PTK NP. Current plans imply that the new Angara A5 launcher will be used. Rob (talk) 21:06, 4 March 2013 (UTC)

Status as of 2015?

What is the status of this project in early 2015? Is it still a live project? Has any hardware ever been built? Tested?

From the sources currently in the article, it appears this may have been a mostly paper design effort that never got full funding to enter into a formal development program. Does anyone have any current sources? N2e (talk) 21:00, 8 March 2015 (UTC)

Translation of the name

Russian name is Перспективная Пилотируемая Транспортная Системаtivnaya . When you translate just Перспективная word it's shown as "promising". Where did "Prospective" come from? is it in official reports ?--Guyver (talk) 22:35, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Change name of article

Most of time we refer to Soviet/Russian spacecraft by their Russian names: Mir, Soyuz, Sputnik, Zond, Vostok, etc. While there are a few exceptions, such as the Progress unmanned space cargo vehicle, most of the time we use the Russian names. That is why I think we should change the name of the Article to "Federatsiya (spacecraft)." I would like to know what others think about this.--WPatrickW (talk) 23:31, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

Federation is a spacecraft model name, like Starliner, Crew Dragon, Orion etc. Orel is the name of first trial spacecraft (mission). It will use Soyuz-5 rocket in Irtysh, single-core, configuration for near-Terra missions and Yenisei and Don, 5-core configurations, for lunar missions. [5]. You're right, the article says that the new Russian spacecraft would continue to be called the “Federation”, but the very first flight model would receive the name “Orel” in honor of the first Russian frigate built by Emperor Peter I.
