I removed "Edwardian" from the architecture section- the Alcotts were out of the house (and most of them were dead) before Edward VII took the throne in 1901.Saxophobia (talk) 12:57, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

"A perfect example of Victorian architecture"

According to Wikipedia Victorian architecture reigned from 20 June 1837 – 22 January 1901. According to this article the house was built/founded in 1690. Plus it looks more Georgian to me anyways.141.154.226.53 (talk) 04:17, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Agreed. I wonder if that source is confusing this with The Wayside next door. Certainly a far better example of a house that began Georgian and had design changes that look Greek Revival and Italianette to me. CSZero (talk) 16:01, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Chain of Ownership

It would be interesting to have a section on how the property passed from Alcott's hands to US Commissioner of Education William Torrey Harris (detailed in his biography Yankee Teache: The Life of William Torrey Harris‎ by Kurt F. Leidecker) as well as who the subsequent owners were before the property became a museum. I will look at that book again, and also try to get a copy of the application used in the property's historic designation process. Sourcing

There must be better sources than the Orchard House official web site. We need neutral, third-party, published, reliable sources. And just footnoting that info was added by the museum director does not cut it. All that information is subject to removal, per WP policy. --Midnightdreary (talk) 14:49, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
