Talk:Optical properties of selenium

Needed? edit

This article was recently moved from the draft space, but I question whether that was a wise choice. The article purports to be about the physical properties of selenium, but instead concentrates solely on the optical properties of selenium. Further, the article does not actually report any of the optical properties of selenium, but rather gives some rather detailed descriptions of the experiments that have been carried out to discover said optical properties. Readers would rather know the results of the studies than the studies' methodologies. I suspect the problem is that the research is still ongoing, and the optical properties have not yet been fully characterized, in which case this article may be premature. I propose to reduce this article to a redirect to Selenium#Physical properties. I specifically invite Tarawneh and MousaJafar2070 to join this discussion. WikiDan61, the article is still a stub, it should be expanded. MousaJafar2070 knows the content better than me. I am just working on forming the article into a readable form. Optical properties of Selenium is something already published and well studied, we are not dealing with uncharted area, but with a well defined, well cited, well researched topic within the academic community. Anyway, lets give it a chance to grow out of the stub it is. --Tarawneh (talk) 16:31, 6 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Tarawneh: I question your choice to have moved it from the draft state to the article space while it was still in such sketchy shape. I'll wait to see if the original author chooses to expand it at all. For now, I'm going to move it to Optical properties of selenium, a properly formatted title that accurately reflects the articles intended (if not yet actual) content. ِ::WikiDan61. Yes, Once the article is expanded another move might be needed. But for now, I totally agree with the new name. --Tarawneh (talk) 16:45, 6 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Merge edit

Per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Optical properties of selenium, I have merged what small content is contained in this article into the main selenium article. I have created a section there titled "Optical properties" which mentions the intense research interest in the topic, but which presents no actual optical properties (since this article does not actually provide any information on that subject). I urge this article's author(s) to expand the "optical properties" section with some actual optical properties. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:08, 16 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
