Issues

edit

A number of problems with this article:

  • No inline citations
  • In the lead paragraph it says that the operation took place over the North Sea, however Murmansk is nowhere near the North Sea.
  • Also says that the force was in action against the Finns, but this isn't mentioned in any English language source that I can find.
  • "Background" section suggests that "Great Britain" (should be United Kingdom) was already in an alliance with USSR before 22 June, this is wrong.
  • States that aircraft were supplied under Lend Lease which was a US programme.

  • The article states that The four Orders of Lenin were the only ones awarded to Allies in the war. This is wrong. For instance, Marcel Albert, Marcel Lefèvre, Jacques André and Roland de la Poype from Normandie-Niemen were awarded with the Order of Lenin.

RAFweb.org has a few mentions related to Operation Benedict, including these ([1] [2]) mentions of Vaenga airfield. I've historically found it a good source of information so there may be more on the site. — Sasuke Sarutobi (talk) 11:42, 21 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I'm struggling to find sources to improve the citations so this will really help. Keith-264 (talk) 12:01, 21 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Golley arrived today and I'm expanding the article in a sandbox.Keith-264 (talk) 09:57, 14 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Force Benedict

edit

One source that I haven't got refers to Force Benedict but I've tried to avoid the term because I can't cite it. At a guess, the operation is the thing from start to finish and the force is 151 Wing. If anyone's sources shed light on it we can amend the nomenclature accordingly. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 12:31, 18 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Would that be Carter & Loveless' Force Benedict (ISBN 9781444785135; cf. [3])? My instinct would probably be that the naming relates to the fact that it is the force carrying out Operation Benedict, but I can't support that with a citation. — Sasuke Sarutobi (push to talk) 17:15, 18 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
'Twould indeed. RegardsKeith-264 (talk) 17:22, 18 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
