i dont agree with this article at all

i dont agree with the part that says that the opening track is usually the first thing that someone hears from an album, as normally the listener would have heard a single or 2 from the album first, no-one buys an album at random without hearing a song off it first, and the song they hear isn't always the first song on the album

plus i dont agree about the part that says that it is the down to the first song that will make the listener listen to the rest of the album or not, if you spent all that money on an album, you would be pretty stupid to only listen to the first song and not like that one song and never listen to the rest of it ever again —Preceding unsigned comment added by Snowball1988 (talk • contribs)

this whole article is crap and should be deleted. the parts that make it into the distant neighborhood of being a good point should just be incorporated into the article about the album format.R0m23 (talk) 20:28, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

This don't make sense...

This is by far the worst article I've ever read in my life. It doesn't make ANY sense. For instance, "It is particularly of importance in compiling an album because it is usually the first impression the buyer of one receives of the material..." no, its album singles that are used for this purpose, as they are generally used to promote an album of any kind. Also, "...and is very crucial in getting the listener to either listen to the rest of the album, or to stop listening before he completes it." makes no sense, because it doesn't determine if you'd really stop listening to the album. It's like saying if you listened to Queen's A Night at the Opera only for the album's flagship single "Bohemian Rhapsody", (which is track 11 on the album) but you just don't listen to the album anymore after you listened to track 1 "Death on Two Legs (Dedicated To...)". IT MAKES NO SENSE WHATSOEVER!!!! And where it's described as "Slightly conventional, yet unique in either structure or melody" not always true, because I've listened to many albums whose opening tracks are decently similar to the rest of the album.
