There are a number of collections of scholarship in Greece housed in digital open access repositories.[1] They contain journal articles, book chapters, data, and other research outputs that are free to read. As of March 2018, the UK-based Directory of Open Access Repositories lists some 36 repositories in Greece.[1] The National Hellenic Research Foundation, University of Patras, and University of Piraeus hold the most digital assets.[2]

Greek open access journals edit

A short list of open access journals from Greece was added to this article on 14 April 2018. It was selected from a longer, more comprehensive list based on information cited in DOAJ. -- Oa01 (talk) 07:21, 14 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed text

Many editorial boards of scholarly journals in Greece have decided to publish in open access form, allowing readers to access articles for free, and also to freely reuse   the information. Typically, the intention is to foster further research, to advance scholarship and the production of knowledge, and to encourage reuse of research without the obstacle of costly access. Among the open access journals produced in Greece are the following titles:[1]

  • Oppose. To start with, this paragraph starts with several sweeping but unsourced statements (which you already have added verbatim to many other articles of the "OA in ..." series. Who says that it was "many". Who says that the decision was made by the "editorial boards", who says that this was to allow free reuse, who says what their intentions were, etc? Then you give a list, which either is exhaustive and violates WP:NOTADIRECTORY or it is selective and in that case, you need to define the selection criteria and cite your source for that. Repeating the same "reference" to DOAJ is not very helpful. In addition, linking to a site an then instead of a title providing search instructions is really inappropriate. In short, this text is not appropriate and should not be added to the article. --Randykitty (talk) 14:51, 30 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
