Restoration of content

edit

I've just reverted an unexplained content removal. All said and done the contact does have issues and the language is not but it 'may have the WP:RS that will be required for notability in mainspace. I might talk a further look at the history in a few days. Thankyou.Djm-leighpark (talk) 19:50, 24 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Purpose of OpenVINO

edit

This line seems to make assumptions without a valid reference:

Similar to the TensorRT framework from Nvidia, the main purpose of the OpenVino project is to sell the underlying hardware to the customer.

The reference is:

Agrawal, Vasu (2019). Ground Up Design of a Multi-modal Object Detection System (PDF) (MSc). Carnegie Mellon University Pittsburgh, PA.

But based on my reading, the paper does not make such claims. I don't question the goal is what the line claims, but it's not based on a reference or an official statement by Intel. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sirdifferential (talkcontribs) 09:07, 7 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Some suggestions for a content refresh

edit

The toolkit has two versions: OpenVINO toolkit, which is supported by open source community and Intel Distribution of OpenVINO toolkit, which is supported by Intel.

- This statement is not really based in facts. All development and publishing is done under one repository and it involves both Intel and community developers. It probably stems from the way the software was described at its early stages, and could be removed for clarity.

Intel Movidius VPU, and FPGAs.

- These are old technologies that are no longer supported. It could be either removed or replaced with "NPU," which has just been launched and will be fully supported by OpenVINO.

Overview section

- The entire section is very old information and mostly no longer true. Most of the components mentioned have already been either deprecated, discontinued, or replaced. I'd be happy to prepare new content but wouldn't want to do it against the editing policies.

References section

- This section is also outdated but can be easily improved

ad.1 - a newer version is available here

ad.2 - ok

ad.3 - a shorter url would be better for consistency: https://docs.openvino.ai

ad.4 - the link is broken but the documentation link above covers this one, so this point may be simply removed

ad.5 - ok
