untitled section

edit

i just wanted to mention, that the whole MSN-engine is outputed as OpenSearch/1.1 on live.com :

http://search.live.com/query.aspx?q=searchquery&source=web&count=21&first=1

returns the first 20 websearch results for "searchquery"

SharePoint and Search Server make use of the OpenSearch protocol, with some extensions, for their Search Connectors - which allow SharePoint / Search Server's search results page to aggregate search results from sources not indexed by SharePoint.

Someone should make a picture similar to [1] which shows how the aggregation works. It's so new that it's hard to understand what is meant by opensearch. 70.111.218.254 14:33, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Anyone know what became of this? Clip from 3 years ago. Sounds like a different open search to me. --Bxj (talk) 15:08, 13 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

That's Wikia Search, a free and open search engine. Both are "open", but are very different things otherwise. Reach Out to the Truth 22:53, 13 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

IE9 OpenSearch auto-discovery missing

edit

IE9 OpenSearch auto-discovery is missing, making it impossible to get search suggestions through the toolbar. Heyzeuss (talk) 22:24, 4 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Add disambiguation with a software of the same name

edit

A new fork of Elasticsearch, OpenSearch has just been released. It might be helpful to add a disambiguation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Togira Ikonoka 123 (talkcontribs) 15:53, 13 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I've added a hatnote to OpenSearch (software). --Krinkle (talk) 02:27, 27 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 12 May 2022

edit

On Talk:OpenSearch (software), I have proposed to move OpenSearch to OpenSearch (syndication) and OpenSearch (software) to OpenSearch because the software project is now better-known than the syndication protocol and is almost always what users are searching for. --Macrakis (talk) 18:48, 12 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Not entirely an amazon.com project

edit

You have the originator as being amazon.com. This is not quite right. Please read the "website" that you list in the infobox: https://github.com/dewitt/opensearch This indicates a duality and "repurposing" of the name OpenSearch. I think that thi s should be corrected.
