Mating: Expert attention needed edit

I came across this which makes me think this page needs some expert attention: "The gonopodium can be brought forward on one side only, and left and right males are found in approximately the same proportion. Contrary to what is commonly stated in aquarist textbooks the female's sexual opening appears to be perfectly symmetrical, so males can mate indifferently with all the females of the population (Ghedotti & Weitzman 1996; Bisazza, unpubl. data)." This is from Bisazza et al. 2000. Sexual Competition, Coercive Mating and Mate Assessment in the One-Sided Livebearer, Jenynsia multidentata: Are They Predictive of Sexual Dimorphism? Ethology 106:961-978. I'm not an expert in these fish, but it seems like there's at least disagreement the reproductive practices. Thoughts? --TeaDrinker (talk) 03:01, 22 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
