Talk:One Less Lonely Girl/GA1

Latest comment: 14 years ago by 76.182.39.118

Glad we are letting illiterate people write articles on Wikipedia now. Seriously what is this: "Regarding the concept of the song, Bieber told MTV News, "I think it's really important these girls have something so they can be one less lonely girl."[4] Bieber joked that "Lonely Girl" wasn't always the choice for this first choice for his second single stating "It was either between that or 'I Love High School.'", a remix of "I Love College" by label mate, Asher Roth.[4] 'One Less Lonely Girl' was released digitally on the iTunes Store on October 6, 2009." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.182.39.118 (talk) 23:05, 3 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Review edit

Link/media check
  • No dead links.
  • Links to two disambiguation pages- please fix.
  • File:Justin Bieber - One Less Lonely Girl (Official Single Cover).png is far too large; please upload a smaller image no bigger than 300 x 300 px.
  • File:Lonelygirlvideo.jpg also needs to be smaller (again, no bigger than 300 x 300 px). The file's fair use rationale should also be made stronger- for example, even though it is obvious why it isn't replaceable, it needs to be spelled out. Make it more like the cover's rationale.
  • Please add alt text to both images- see WP:ALT for more information.
  • Sound file rationale looks alright, although "The section of music used is discussed in the article in relation to the song's lyrics, musical and vocal style, and may contain part of the song's chorus" isn't currently true. Can you modify it?
Content

While I see Musicnotes doesn't host the sheet music, information like "set to an arrangement that follows the lineage of hit midtempo ballads" can be taken from reviews and used to build a section on the song's structure. Other reviews may contain commentary on the song's lyrics, genre, etc. At the very least, briefly describe what the song is about and tells us the genre.
Reviews are also needed to bulk up the reception section. One review isn't enough to justify the statement "The song was positively received".

Since I expect more information can be added to the article, I'll hold off on checking the prose. I'm putting the article on hold until February 26, 2010, but leave me a note on my talk page whenever you finish. Liquidlucktalk 23:02, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Result: Because I have seen no effort to improve the article, I am failing it. Please fix the issues above before nominating the article again. In addition, I've left a few more comments below. Best of luck with the article! liquidlucktalk 00:12, 26 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • The second sentence in "background" is unnecessary, and the last sentence needs a citation.
  • Please either place references before or after punctuation, not both. (I.E., In "As the telethon was also being broadcast in Haiti, Bieber sung the first verse in French.[31]" the reference appears after the period, but in "Bieber's mother, Pattie Malette, makes a cameo during the flower stand scene in the music video[14]." the reference is placed beforehand.) These switches happen throughout the article.
  • File:Justinonelesslonelygirl.jpg does not appear to meet the fair use criteria because it is used only for decoration (failing WP:FUC#8). It is also of poor quality and could be replaced with the free and better looking images Justin Bieber and Justin Bieber (failing WP:FUC#1). File:Justinonelesslonelygirl.jpg should be deleted.
  • There are two bare urls which need formatting.
  • References to online publications (including but not limited to refs 4, 10, 15 and 16) should not be italicized. Publications should either be wikilinked each time they appear in a ref or only the first time they appear in the references list.
  • Billboard refs should list Billboard in the "work" parameter, not the publisher parameter. If you choose to list Nielson Business Media in the "publisher" parameter, you should include publishers for the other citations as well.
  • Refs such as #10 and #18 should be written in lowercase.
  • Once the info I suggested above is added to the article, read it out loud to yourself to catch grammar mistakes or ask for help at peer review. You might also try the league of copy-editors.
