Requested move edit

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: pages moved—with all those redlinks on the dab page (apparently deleted/merged articles), a reasonable request. Miniapolis 15:52, 12 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

– To make room for On the Rebound (instrumental). I believe that should be there as it is the only notable entry on that list; the other two can be dealt with by bunging a {{for}} template at the top of the page. (Discussion moved from Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/On the Rebound.) Steel1943 (talk) 21:45, 25 April 2013 (UTC) Launchballer 20:24, 25 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Leaning to oppose Oppose. The comments that followed my original comment below have convinced me that the lone Wikilinked entry isn't necessarily the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC.

The {{for}} tag works best for articles with similar names, and that isn't the case here. Also, while On the Rebound (instrumental) is the only entry having its own Wikipedia article, that doesn't equate to being the only notable entry on the list. For example, the Prettyman song is quite recent and has been getting regular air play. I'm seeing/hearing people refer to it as "the Trader Joe's song". The other two entries should probably be redlinked, as is customary for disambiguation lists where notability may be present but Wiki articles haven't been written yet. ~Amatulić (talk) 21:54, 25 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

That hatnote was mangled, the song is by Russ Ballard not Uriah Heep who only covered it. The second song is "The Rebound" - have fixed that on hatnote and dab page too. In ictu oculi (talk) 04:00, 26 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Or the On the Rebound (Ian Levine song) for Brenda Holloway and Jimmy Ruffin? In ictu oculi (talk) 04:17, 26 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Support There's currently only one article by this name. --BDD (talk) 23:45, 2 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Having one Wikipedia article isn't really relevant. A disambiguation page containing redlinks is still a valid disambiguation page if there is no clear WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. And there isn't a clear primary topic in this case. ~Amatulić (talk) 00:26, 3 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Support until notability is established for the other topics. The disambiguation page can be kept, but should be moved. Peter James (talk) 17:24, 3 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
I don't have a problem with moving the disambiguation page. I have a problem with moving a disambiguated article to a primary topic article, when it clearly isn't. Notability isn't defined by whether we have an article on something, and we don't have articles on all things notable. ~Amatulić (talk) 17:58, 3 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
"On the Rebound" was a top 10 single in the UK and US. I don't think that the articles have to be written first, just some indication that the other topics (at least two, per WP:TWODABS) are significant enough for articles and any come close to this in notability.
