Operations /large map rooms with viewing galleries edit

I added a section on the two WW2 era operations/large map rooms with upper viewing galleries in brick-built buildings next to the airfield owned nowadays by Wessex Archaeology. The rooms are now the drawing office and the finds room. I can't find a reference for this yet (I know because I used to work there) but here's a photo of the finds room with viewing gallery just visible in upper background: [1] 86.133.213.161 (talk) 12:20, 28 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

622 VGS edit

Is there any information on when 622 VGS left Old Sarum for Upavon? 82.132.241.153 (talk) 23:53, 22 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

November 1978 per Berryman, Wiltshire Airfields in the Second World War p.158. Section updated accordingly. Wire723 (talk) 10:32, 23 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Volunteer Gliding School edit

The page currently says, "In 1963 622 (Volunteer) Gliding School (VGS) became based at Old Sarum and the School was amalgamated with the Amphibious Warfare School from Poole in Dorset to form the Joint Warfare Establishment, equipped with a few Whirlwinds and Wessexes."

This is incorrect. ATC gliding schools were not equipped with helicopters. I can't speak for the gliding school being amalgamated with the Amphibious Warfare School, but it seems extremely unlikely. Feels as if two separate points have been merged as one here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BackSeat (talkcontribs) 18:08, 18 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
