Accuracy of this article

This article is simply appalling. What grew from the hellenic settlement in the Panier was always the old part of the town. Everything is properly explained in the article on Marseille. This article is written in franglais and is uninformative and unencyclopedic. It does not properly cite its sources. It makes no reference to the original article on Marseille. A careful english translation of the corresponding french article would be a good idea, but not this kind of shoddy scribbling. Unless a proper english version of the corresponding french WP article is produced, I will recommend this article for deletion. --Mathsci 22:17, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

I have now retranslated the French wikipedia page on the Vieux-Port, also including some of the previous material by Franchute and some details from the main page on Marseille. The list of monuments and churches next to the Vieux-Port is still incomplete, but needs to be properly sourced (names of churches, etc): this can all be found on the French WP portail for Marseille (I think). The museums of the old (Greek and) Roman docks could also be mentioned. A previous summary I put on the history page of the article has negatives in the wrong place because it was dispatched prematurely owing to a glitch on my computer. I meant to write "appalling inaccuracies" and "written in franglais". The spirit of the article, however, was correct and I apologize if I slightly over-reacted. Nevertheless, it was an incomplete translation of the French WP page, marred by inaccuracies both in translation and in some historical facts.
