Video Games edit

In the Video Games section someone wrote:

"Wolfenstein 3D — a computer and video game originally released in 1992. Although not taking place in Colditz Castle, does seem to draw loosely from the escape stories related to it."

Could we get a confirmation on this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.113.185.85 (talk) 05:00, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hogan's Heroes edit

Is there any actual information to support the theory that this may have been the inspiration for Hogan's Heroes? (StarkeRealm 09:32, 1 November 2007 (UTC))Reply

escaper - escapee edit

It escapes me why "87.80.246.98" refuses to register, considering that he has been editing articles regularly for many months.

However, he keeps changing "escapee" in this article to "escaper". Although both words are recognized, escapee is currently the preferred form, -

  • Oxford English Dictionary - see the definition for recapture: • verb 1 capture (an escapee)
  • Merriam-Webster Dictionary - see definition for escapee: : one that has escaped; especially : an escaped prisoner.
  • Wiktionary - escapee 1. Someone who has become free through escaping imprisonment.

Therefore stop the continual reverting.

Miniseries edit

I don't know the correct etiquette, but thanks to contributors here for providing the seed of Colditz (miniseries). Cucamber (talk) 02:46, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Citations missing edit

Have slapped on the citations missing template 'cos the article as it stands is seriously lacking 'em. Half of the current inline citations refer not to the Oflag itself but to the games... --Technopat (talk) 11:44, 9 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thousand year old fortress? edit

The building work on the original castle started in 1158, but the structure was destroyed by fire in 1504. Rebuilding took place from 1506 to 1530. In what possible way could the complex be described as a "thousand year old fortress" during the period of WW2? If there is no defence of this hyperbole over the next few days, I will reword the sentence concerned. Astronomy Explained (talk) 17:51, 27 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

What kind of bullshit are you telling us today, BoJo? edit

So Gottlob Berger was leading a guard detail in Colditz? Sure, Mac, sure! And Keitel was shining shoes in the casino. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2003:E2:3709:F893:2D13:FF76:8BCC:EA0 (talk) 18:27, 16 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Lost citations? edit

About a third of the citations are to UKTVPLAY website. However, the link does not go to anything about Colditz; furthermore a search for "Colditz" give "No Results Found". Something seems to have gone awry. Exbrum (talk) 15:41, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
