Article title

"The US Gulf of Mexico" doesn't make sense in the file name; we can either have Offshore oil and gas in the Gulf of Mexico (including material about drilling in Mexican waters) or a narrower article along the lines of Offshore oil and gas in United States waters in the Gulf of Mexico. But "the US Gulf of Mexico" will confuse readers. Neutralitytalk 12:42, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your comment, but I disagree that the title leads to confusion. I believe that the average reader will understand "US Gulf of Mexico" to mean "United States waters in the Gulf of Mexico," or, more precisely, the "United States exclusive economic zone in the Gulf of Mexico." What other interpretation do you believe readers will put on it? As for having a joint article on US and Mexican offshore oil production in the Gulf, that makes little sense to me. Unlike the North Sea, where there is really a single oil industry divided up by national boundaries, the main US and Mexican offshore oil areas are not contiguous, do not share the same geology, and have different historical patterns of exploration. I think that they have so little in common that there is no advantage to putting them together in the same article. By the way, I appreciate your work in cleaning up these offshore articles. Regards.
