Talk:Oath of Supremacy

Presumably, the oath has since been disextended from university students — I'm a nonconformist undergraduate — although I know that MPs continue to have to swear to the supremacy of the Monarch, and I suppose the same is true of Church of England clergy. Does anyone have any knowledge of the history of the Oath beyond 1559? Wooster (talk) 11:44, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Have a look at http://www.econlib.org/LIBRARY/YPDBooks/Lalor/llCy772.html to see how complex the question is Snori (talk) 22:51, 26 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Consecration of Bishops Abroad Act edit

This law need to be mentioned. It amended the act to allow for the consecration of Anglican Bishops who did not have to bear allegiance to His or Her Majesty...(This is a significant development, as it allowed for the possibility of union with the Episcopal Church in the United States. Situation today edit

Are CofE clergy still required to take this oath? If not when was the requirement abolished? --Oudeístalk 15:32, 25 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
