Commercial? edit

Remember the old WDRE commercial?

Come gather 'round now, everyone
Got a tale about Bob Matherson
See, Bob's the owner of the OBI
(And truth be told, one hell of a guy)

A businessman like you and me
Conducting business in the Land of the Free
But folks out there, in high places
Hassled Bob about parking spaces

Bugged him about nonexistent things
Hurtin' the fish (?), balloons on strings
(something something)

Get out, get out of New York State
Get out now, before it's too late

Yes, I remember those ads. I also remember his cable ads "Have you been injured by a lawyer". Do you remember when he wanted to expand his club but was not allowed by the Town, so he bought an old ship and dragged it up onto the beach and connected it to the club? --Amcalabrese 05:10, 22 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Does anybody remember the OBI WEST or OBI WEST II in Island Park? Remember the Good Rats or FOREST ? Remember SNEAKER SHOOTERS ?

I remember that before Bob Matherson gave up on the place, his commercials mistakenly referred to the OBI being off the "Jones Beach Causeway," when they meant Ocean Parkway. "Jones Beach Causeway" was actually the name chosen for Wantagh State Parkway south of the formerly proposed interchange with Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway. ----DanTD (talk) 22:28, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oak Beach Inn edit

Another article on Wikipedia on Long Island says that this place is "notorious" but I don't really see much in this profile that backs up this assertion. Is this article leaving anything out? Newjerseyliz (talk) 16:15, 6 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
