Talk:ONIX (publishing protocol)

Latest comment: 12 years ago by Warraqeen
The Sources link to the Book Industry Study Group that points to the ONIX page no longer exists. I can't find a page on the BISG site that points to a general overview of ONIX (which is what I'm guessing might have been the source, judging by the URL, and the fact that there are separate Wiki page links to specific ONIX flavors). With the source somewhat AWOL, does the whole article need updating, including a new source link? Or, should the BISG site link simply move to an External Resources section? - Andrea Mercado (talk) 13:43, 28 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
I suggest merging with ONIX for Books and calling the new article "ONIX (publishing protocl)" Mike Linksvayer (talk) 15:12, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Andrea. I've put working links in the Sources section now for each standard.

As far as Mike's suggestion goes of merging in the content of ONIX for Books to this article, I'm a bit reluctant because these ONIX articles are very incomplete and once there's lots more information on each standard I think we'd only end up splitting them apart again. Given the large number of organizations using ONIX for Books (the only standard I know something about) - and that they're full of wordy people - I'm amazed that there's been so little interest in adding to this article. Every large publisher in the world, and a lot of the little ones, use the ONIX for Books standard on a daily basis; you just wouldn't know it to look at this article. But I think these articles are likely to get quite extensive before long. Warraqeen (talk) 07:57, 25 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
