Although I see that some work has been done on this recently and that the article has grown enormously from merger, it's not ready for a full GA review yet. There are current, valid, maintenance templates on the article ({{citation needed}}) and large portions of the article that are not easily (if at all) verifiable. The Reviewing good articles guideline suggests that for such an article "it may be premature to provide a detailed review". The lead does not yet meet the WP:LEAD guideline (which is part of the good article criteria and little things like this and this make me think that the article is just not ready. I'm not completely convinced that criterion #3 ("broad in its coverage") has been met either. I'm not an expert on the subject, but the history section seems very thin to me, skipping over anything pre-19th century. There could probably be some more info on Florence Nightingale, and her part in nursing reform could be a bit more balanced, to better reflect modern thinking. (Why is there an infobox for her stuck in the middle of this article?) There could be more about the religious nursing that went on in Medieval times. Is there no information about nursing outside certain Western countries? Does the UK, US, Canada and Japan cover "worldwide"? To be honest, this is a huge topic, and an important one, and I commend you for choosing it, but I would really recommend taking this to peer review before a further GA nomination. Consider notifying the relevant wikiproject (and maybe even the medicine wikiproject) to ask for wider input. --BelovedFreak 10:50, 22 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
