Respect for those who died

Who is the jerk that put the word "f**king" in the first paragraph of this article? That's just immature, especially if for some reason, small children actually look up information on this book only to see this word. Also, it's disrepectful to the people who died during the Holocaust. Cheruben 01:25, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Um, Cheruben, you didn't have to repeat the "F word". Thanks for your concern, but an admininstrator will sort it out for you, okay? Thanks, Meldshal42.

Who would put f**king in. The king, I presume you are talking hristian x because he was amazing and geat source of morale for the danish —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Connie999 (talkcontribs) 09:26, August 21, 2007 (UTC).

Fair use rationale for Image:NumbertheStarsBookCover.jpg

Image:NumbertheStarsBookCover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Number the Stars

Number the stars is partly focused in the friendship of two 10-year old girls but it's really about the struggle of the Danes in rescuing the jews from being 'relocated'(killed) by the Nazis. it's also good for adults.

Number The Stars Message.

Ok well some people might not understand what went on in the holocaust but its a struggle that poor parts of Europe and small countries taken over by the Nazi civilization. They were exterminating the jews over something Adolf Hitler commanded tham to do. See Adolf Hitler was Germany's dictator and he had to make the coutry follow him. Well he started telling them lies and he told lies so much that he started believing himself. He would say stuff like the Jews are the reason its raining. Or The jews are behind whatever bad was going on. He was all the time accusing the Jews for everything. He started believing that the jews overtook the world and he wanted to take over the world. Hitler didnt think jews were normal. He thought they had some "magic" power or something. It might sound silly but its what they had to go through during the 1940's and it sucked majorly. There is a holocaust memorial with over 6 million peoples names who died in the resistance. This book is a really good documentary to show what went on. And putting it in the situation for two friends and one was a jew and the other was one of the major races(blonde hair and blue eyes) and It was genius to put it in a TRUE story like this one to make people understand what it was like during that time.

Neglected to log in before making my edits, but I worked on the plot summary, removing some unnecessary details and cleaning up the copy.TheBigFish (talk) 01:13, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

number the stars

why does mrs. rosen tell annemarie that "it is important to be one of the crowd, always"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.172.191.36 (talk) 19:50, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Because to stand out would be to risk drawing the attention of the Nazi occupiers. Franamax (talk) 15:17, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

cover

Does it say which girl is the one on the cover?97.114.130.43 (talk) 00:52, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

From the first chapter of the book, Annemarie has "silvery blond hair" and Ellen has "dark pigtails", so I'd say it is Annemarie. The frontispiece states it is a work of fiction, so really, it's a portrait of someone acting as a model for the cover artist or it is pure imagination. And as with all books, if the cover doesn't fit your own mental picture of the character, feel free to use your own! :) Franamax (talk) 02:17, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Plot Summary

I spent a little time working on the plot summary, trying to improve the flow, style, grammar, etc., and rewriting portions that were unclear or too wordy. I feel like the overall plot summary could stand to be shortened as well, though. Thoughts?TheBigFish (talk) 00:27, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

<redacted> i'm pretty sure the psalm it credits the title to wasn't actualy the first time the phrase was said, rather "number the stars" refers to a command god gave abram (abraham) in genesis. the psalm recalls this story. <redacted>
