Correct Image? Request for a 2nd opinion

The current picture for this article, Nukazuke.jpg uploaded 18 years ago, doesn't appear like nukazuke style pickles. They appear like regular brine/vinegar style pickles. Maybe they are nukazuke pickles, but perhaps they have been rinsed clean of the rice bran that usually sticks to them. Usually nukazuke is served dry (well, moist), not usually soaking in watery liquid (as the cucumber is in the picture).

I noticed @DoWhile~enwiki uploaded the file and incorporated it on the Japanese Wikipedia page and an anonymous edit incorporated it on this English Wikipedia page, and also @Holly Cheng added this picture to the Japanese article on all tsukemono pickles. I'm wondering if these editors can confirm if this picture is indeed nukazuke rinsed clean, or if it may have been presumed correct (in error).

On a slight diversion of topic, I think this other picture in the commons, Tsukemono (24068206975).jpg is an excellent picture that should be used on this page in replacement or in addition to the existing one, since it's indisputably a true image of nukazuke (even though the vegetables are intact and not sliced).

I hope not to offend. Nukazuke is quite a unique way of pickling, so I just want to verify that it's being depicted correctly.

I have no idea. I was probably just assuming the filename was correct. If you're sure the photo is accurate, then by all means replace it. —holly {chat} 00:15, 4 January 2024 (UTC)

I understand the point you are making. Both images are useful. The Nukazuke.jpg from 18 years ago visually represents what one might be presented with in an English speaking restaarunt. Whereas the Tsukemono (24068206975).jpg image represents more what one would receive in Japan. Any thought on a good way to present both in a way that best informs our readers?

Unfortunately, we don't have any idea where that photo was taken, so I would hesitate on making any assumptions. I say just go with the other photo if that's how authentic nukazuke should look. —holly {chat} 18:12, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

The metadata of the Tsukemono (24068206975).jpg image points to: Latitude 35° 39′ 59.74″ N Longitude 139° 46′ 14.49″ E. - it was taken in Chuo City, Tokyo, Japan. Whenever I have traveled in Japan, the rice bran is visible on the pickled vegetables, as depicted in the newly proposed image which seems more authentic than the current one which looks lightly pickled in brine.
