The earlier version of this was implying that Catholicism was banned in Great Britain prior to 1829, which isn't true: however, before the Relief Act there were restrictions on Catholics holding public office. The Act lifted most of those (but not all - you've still got to be C of E to be the monarch).Bedesboy (talk) 17:46, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
