Too much emphasis on icefish edit
I'm not sure why icefish are featured so prominently in the beginning section. This is an article about the suborder as a whole, not just that family. Ambiederman (talk) 23:02, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
Edits edit
Hi, I am planning to address the issue that this page focuses solely on Antarctic notothenioids instead of all notothenioids, including sub-Antarctic fish. I will rewrite the introduction to speak generally about the notothenioids and mention the icefish then link them to the article focusing on icefish. I also have sources that have been used to create the anatomy section in this article, so I will add those in.
Let me know if these edits make sense! MarineBiologistLaura (talk) 20:38, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
Changes to page edit
I'd like to make some changes to the Wikipedia pages concerning Antarctic notothenioid fishes. My main objectives are to add citations, clarify/correct information, and to help fill gaps in content as needed. One of the most pervasive issues I've seen on Wikipedia pages regarding notothenioids is misuse of the term "icefish," which should only be used to identify members of the family Channichthyidae. I believe this has contributed to the misidentification of icefishes by journalists. I will plan to remove (or reclarify) references to icefishes on this page to hopefully help rectify this issue. Merger proposal edit
I propose merging Antarctic fishes into Notothenioidei. There is a great deal of overlap between the two, and Antarctic fishes really only deals with Notothenioidei and does not cover other groupings such as eelpouts or snaifishes.Quetzal1964 (talk) 15:18, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
