Article is confusing
editIt is stated that NFPOs do not have the same obligation to the public good as NPOs and are considered "recreational organizations." However, the article also lists charity as a common venture for which an NFPO is established, along with social welfare. This is not necessarily a contradiction but is very confusing to someone unfamiliar with how these legal entities differ, which I think is most of us. Specific examples of NFPO charities might help illuminate how charity (an ambiguous term) in an NFPO looks as opposed to the more familiar NPO charity.
An example of how incredibly confusing this topic can be is that the YMCA has NPO designation but appears to fit many of the criteria listed in this article. 2603:7081:1603:A300:6D07:A065:FFEF:FEF9 (talk) 20:24, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
- I have added some clarification on this, good point. Epifanove🗯️ 01:42, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
Whoa
editThis article is definitely not worded perfectly but makes me wonder if I do understand it. I truly do not know. I feel almost like I just insulted my own intelligence in a way. 2600:6C5E:4000:2260:D629:7D43:E62E:B046 (talk) 13:20, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comment, I've now simplified the wording so it is a little more intuitive. Epifanove🗯️ 09:32, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
