Talk:Norton Safe Web

Latest comment: 12 years ago by Bigzteve in topic Use?

I wonder whether this topic merits a Controversy section. Semantec recommends that users don't visit sites they haven't tested. This seems to penalise many small sites unfairly (unless they comply with the arguably unreasonable requirement to register with Semantec). Has anyone researched this issue? Use?

edit

Can someone please explain in the article whether NSW actually does anything other than inform users of bad sites? I know it tells users to stop going into a site and so on, but apart from these warnings, what does it do? i.e. does turning off NSW actually disable any tangible security features in norton antivirus? Because turning it off brings up the message "nsw off - you're not protected while surfing the web" but right below that it says "antiphishing on - your browser is set to detect fraudulent websites". So...? Sounds a bit inconsistent. Thanks! BigSteve (talk) 18:49, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
