Talk:North Sea Canal

Clarification edit

Both the pages for the North Sea Canal and the IJ need to be clarified. Either the North Sea Canal is simply the channel dug within the existing IJ, in which case it's simply the IJ, or it's simply the very small stretch of water between the sea and the first set of locks of the IJ at IJmuiden. If it's the former, then it doesn't make much sense throughout this article to constantly differentiate between the canal and the "IJ Bay." And, given the information in the infobox (25km in length, mouth at IJmuiden and source at Amsterdam), this article is almost certainly talking about the North Sea Canal being the entirety of the IJ. If this is not the case, then this article needs to be made more specific always describing the eastern end of the canal being within the Binnen-IJ. --Criticalthinker (talk) 10:29, 20 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

On the Contrary, IJ Article clarifys that original large IJ was reclamed as polder in XIX century, leaving only small area around Amsterdam, and artificial North Sea Canal was build in IJ Basin 159.205.239.70 (talk) 17:22, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Then this article should use the Template:Infobox canal instead of the Template:Infobox river as it does currently. RScheiber (talk) 18:07, 15 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
