Talk:North Downs Way

General update

Any general updates and improvements to the page are most welcome, particularly a picture or two - I do have some excellent photos but I am unable to upload them due to crown copyright, as there are lots of changes coming up to the North Downs Way.

There will be a new local strategy for the NDW in 2012, a new national funding agreement in early 2013, as well as a new website (the last two points affect all National Trails). Sadly my time is rather limited, but if anyone would like to get in touch to lend a hand, please do so through the North Downs Way website contact form... or of course, in the wonderful verisimilitude of Wikipedia, just crack on with it!

Quick update, I went to the archive yesterday to do a bit of research and found the documents pertaining to the NDW's development and designation, so I've stuck that info in with the appropriate reference as these are public documents.

Highest point

Notwithstanding the reference on the National Trails site [1] that was cited, that is not the highest point - not by a long way. Much of the route is higher than 172 metres - including quite a lot of Box Hill! Personal observation of the map leads me to believe that Botley Hill is the high point, though the route doesn't quite reach its high point of 267 metres, so I've put approx. 260 metres based on the countour lines - though I suspect it is slightly more than that and that the contour lines are slightly inaccurate.

Navi/Compass boxes along the route

I have put navigation boxes along all villages that have sprung up below the North Downs along the (shortest) route, as far as I can, if anyone else would like to add any more then that would be appreciated, especially near Chilham. Adam37 (talk) 17:38, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
