Why no peerage? edit

Much as I despise the appointment of people to the House of Lords, other trade union leaders have often been "elevated". Len Murray, John Monks (before and after Willis in the Gen Sec role) were made Lords. Even David Lea, head of the Economic Dept of the TUC, not Gen Sec, was given a peerage. Bill Callahan, in a similar role to Lea for many years, has a knighthood. It could be that, like Jack Jones, Willis rejected such an offer. Maybe that is public news, but not to me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.104.113.175 (talk) 17:10, 19 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

An answer to my question! "Declining a British honour" on Wikipedia itself includes Willis of those who have refused this offer. An interesting list. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.104.113.175 (talk) 18:05, 19 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
