in the 1930s edit

Betwen the two World Wars, the Nord Express ran from Paris to Warsaw via Cologne and Berlin. There was at least one through coach which ran on to Moscow, the undercarriage being changed at the Polish border crossing to accommodate the broader Russian rail gauge. There were also through coachs from Oostende (connecting to the ferry to the UK) via Brussels to Berlin and Warsaw. I think the two sections were joined in Aachen. The "Nord Express" was sleeping cars only and restaurant car and was operatd by the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits. It was featured in several films and novels.

A beautiful deco travel poster was created in 1927 by A.M. Cassandre for the Nord Express. Can someone would upload a scan to Commons? Sca (talk) 15:29, 5 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
