Norbert Guterman was one of the most accomplished and productive translators whose work I have encountered. As can be seen from the partial select list of his translations, a number of them continue to be reissued decades after their initial publication. I hope some substantial biographical information will be unearthed about this intriguing scholar-translator. He deserves an article of his own — more so, than many translators who already have one.
I think the use of the word "converted" is not the right word for someone who becomes a hassid who was already Jewish. I can't think of the correct word offhand, but I know that this is definitely not the right word.
