Early career postings edit

Article states that, after commissioning as an ensign, Kondo was assigned to cruiser Aso (an old RJW prize), destroyer Kisaragi and "battleship Kongo". All placed chronologically ahead of a 1912-13 posting to the UK as a naval attache.

Kongo (battlecruiser) did not commission until 1913. Is this the ship we mean (the article does specifically say "battleship" but links to the battlecruiser)?

Link to Kisaragi was to the 1920s-era destroyer. This seems very wrong, since Kondo had been promoted to a staff post by the time this small ship completed for service. However, (as I suspected) there was an earlier Kisaragi, built in 1905 as a second-generation TBD. This vessel was in commission during the time period under discussion, so the link has been accordingly changed.

The old ironclad corvette (small, obsolete 'battleship') Kongo was still extant as a survey ship until 1910. Was the young Ensign Kondo perhaps assigned to this ship rather than the not-yet-complete battlecruiser in the pre-1912 period of his career? 2A00:23C7:3119:AD01:5C45:CB78:D20C:E5D4 (talk) 18:56, 19 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
