Talk:No Vacancy (Merle Travis song)

I place this note here in case someone is digging into this song or the musicians.

There's a short black and white film - a music video, really - of this song, with a group of five musicians walking up to some kind of stage inn, where a man puts up a "No Vacancy" sign, and the musicians begin this song.

I saw it on TCM, and it was preceded by a "Kino Lorber" frame, and then a frame stating "Preserved by [the] Library of Congress National Audio-Visual Conservation Center", but with no title nor any credits at all.

It looks like it was filmed in the 1940s and lasts 2 and a half minutes.

I'm pretty sure the guitarist and lead singer is Merle Travis. There's a tall male fiddler who sings, and a blonde female accordionist. There's a guy playing slide guitar - sounds like steel - that's sitting on his lap, and a trumpet player. All quite competent at playing their instruments, albeit on an undemanding song. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Larrywest42 (talkcontribs) 04:22, 24 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
