Talk:No. 11 Squadron RAAF

News article on aircraft updates edit

There's an ABC News article about No. 11 Squadron about to transit away from Orions to Boeing P-8 Poseidons this year, then possibly on to Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton drones. Also some context on unit mascot Felix the Cat, which could make an interesting addition to the article. I'll leave it for the regulars to decide what to do with this. -- saberwyn 06:49, 23 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

reorganization from September 1944 edit

The article doesn't mention how Squadron 11 operated after the other 3 Qld squadrons shifted to Darwin. In September 1944, No. 76 Wing RAAF, which included Nos. 20 42 and 43 Squadrons, was created and its squadrons moved to Darwin, Northern Territory I found the comment that for the December 1944 Manila Bay mission, which was 76 Wing + Squadron 11, 6 planes each for a total of approx 24 planes, 3 planes of Squadron 11 left their "base" at Rathmines for this mission and returned to Rathmines as well. Suggesting that the 3 were there to protect Sydney and service NSW coast ( Being ready to lay mines in a search and destroy mission. ) 27.96.199.11 (talk) 22:06, 14 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
