Notability tag

There's a case to be made for notability through WP:NACADEMIC #7, but the article's sourcing falls short of meeting WP:GNG and neither being an assistant professor or having a Google Scholar h-index of 11 is a shoo-in for notability. _signed, Rosguill ^talk 23:50, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

Hey @Rosguill: Thank you for raising these important points. I think the page should be expanded using this article by NAT GEO (Bizarre Spinosaurus makes history as first known swimming dinosaur). This is my first time creating an article about a paleontologist (or anything related with paleontology). I'm not really an expert in these matters. TheseusHeLl, that seems like an ok source to expand parts of the article, although do note that because Ibrahim is affiliated with National Geographic, the coverage is not independent and thus strictly speaking does not contribute to establishing the subject's notability. _signed, Rosguill ^talk 00:22, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Rosguill, I think it's easy to find reliable sources about this subject. Ex: Giant predatory dinosaur Spinosaurus was scourge of prehistoric rivers, The Guardian; Largest dinosaur predator was a water-loving quadruped, 'River monster': Huge African dinosaur Spinosaurus thrived in the water, Reuters; Scientists Identify First Swimming Dinosaur, WSJ; Giving Workers 'Economic Dignity'; Evidence Of Swimming Dinosaur, WBUR-FM; The only known semiaquatic dinosaur, now on display, The hunt for Spinosaurus, The Washington Post; Ossements de Spinosaurus au Maroc: Nizar Ibrahim raconte sa découverte, TelQuel; etc. This article needs competent editors who are interested in paleontology. -TheseusHeLl (talk) 00:48, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Rosguill, WP:PROF states that "Citation measures such as the h-index, g-index, etc., are of limited usefulness in evaluating whether Criterion 1 is satisfied. They should be approached with caution because their validity is not, at present, completely accepted, and they may depend substantially on the citation database used. They are also discipline-dependent; some disciplines have higher average citation rates than others." Vert Paleontology has around 2,500 active workers, meaning that relative citation levels are likely to be low. Many modern vertebrate paleontologists work as anatomy lecturers at med schools because of the lack of other available positions. Hemiauchenia (talk) 21:00, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
