Nine Elms is not an area, it is a road...that road is a part of Battersea, formerly the Borough of Battersea, technically it is East Battersea, and beyond that it is part of Lambeth. 195.157.32.12 14:47, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have heard of the area referred to as Nine Elms, but you could be right in that it is merely an extension of the name of the eponymous Nine Elms Lane. Kbthompson 15:42, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
from Wandsworth Boro' History

Battersea: The parish grew from several distinct areas, surrounded by open land, which gradually grew during the late 19th century into one urban sprawl. These consisted of the original village around Battersea Square, the crossroads that would become known as Clapham Junction, the upmarket area between Clapham and Wandsworth Commons and the industrial district of Nine Elms. Much of the open land was taken up by four railway companies, who not only laid track, but also had sidings and workshops. The riverside windmills and wharves gave way to new industries, such as Prices Candles, Morgan's Crucible works, Carton's Glucose factory, flour mills, breweries and the Nine Elms Gas Works.
