Exact date of death? edit

The article badly needs a properly referenced date of death - not for its own sake, but for establishing copyright status of Ladovsky's work. According to the recent changes in legislation (at least in the version upheld at Commons), if he died prior to 22.06.1941 - it's PD, if later - it's banned from wikipedia until 2011. Catherine Cooke and Igor Kazus' Soviet Architectural Competitions (Phaidon, London 1992) has it as 1941, in a short bio on page 106. ISBN 1-85454-830-1 - but getting much more precise than that is going to be tricky, given the general fog of the period.

Incidentally, I don't think you can describe the Constructivists as 'nihilist', really. Utilitarian, perhaps, 'anti-architecture' maybe, but 'nihilism' obviously conflicts with the socialist, collectivist tendencies of someone like Ginzburg, whatever one might think of them. • Your point is right for late 1920s, when the movement obtained real-world construction practice and was diluted with an inflow of practicing architects. 1920-1922 were quite different - too few orders, too much ideology talk. NVO (talk) 11:34, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • No doubt that's true, but nihilist is still the wrong word - it implies an active belief in nothing, which obviously isn't the case with say, Alexander Vesnin, who was designing festivals for the Comintern in the early '20s, or for the INKHUK group (Rodchenko, Stepanova etc) which the Constructivists emerged from.
