Death

edit

User:Ad Orientem The wider context is quite clear - deaths of Russians in the last 10 years are being investigated, and it would be a glaring omission here. Widefox; talk 19:33, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but BLP applies here. Any claims of a controversial nature must be backed by citations to reliable sources. I do not doubt what you wrote, but that is WP:OR and or CRSYSTAL balling. It can be re-added when it's properly referenced. -Ad Orientem (talk) 19:37, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
User:Ad Orientem What words do you think I wrote? My words use a BBC source. I presume that's good enough for you? As he's dead, BLP is for whom? Widefox; talk 19:41, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
I assumed you were referring to my redaction here of unsourced claims about his death and possible links to Russian involvement. Am I wrong? Also BLP applies to the recently deceased generally for at least six months and sometimes up to a year if they were controversial figures. -Ad Orientem (talk) 19:46, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
I see that you have re-added the material with an RS citation. That works. -Ad Orientem (talk) 19:48, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
OK, I stand corrected on BLP, thanks. But seriously, you've conflated what I wrote (sourced) and what whoever wrote it first (unsourced). As the news is all over [1] [2] it wasn't hard to source the investigation into a link. Widefox; talk 19:53, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Sorry if that looked precipitous. I am reviewing nominations at ITNC and referencing is one of the things we hold to high standards for articles being considered for linking on the main page. -Ad Orientem (talk) 20:00, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

WP:BLP

edit

WP:BLP still applies here. This is not a reliable source. Try something better. This is probably a false claim to my knowledge. My very best wishes (talk) 21:43, 17 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
