Peer Review for Niki Caro edit

Hi there. I think we can be a little more careful in saying that 2002 film, Whale Rider was an adaptation of a novel of the same title. Feel free to list the most prominent awards the film won and her more famous movies, in the lead section. The article has a strong 'Career' section. I just got a little confused when Japan and its culture was suddenly brought into the picture. Maybe you could explain how Japan was connected to the 100% Pure New Zealand part before you say how the film was considered as having failed to capture the essence of Japanese culture. A reader who has not watched Memory and Desire will not understand this part well. In other words, the content is gold, it just needs a little rewording. 'It was chosen for the New Zealand Prestigious Critics week in 1998...' Maybe you could include a citation here. The film was produced for slightly over 2 million dollars but the source and the article do not say in what currency. That's also not the entire budget. The Whale Rider Wiki article says it was NZ$9.235 million and the source that provided this info breaks it down for you. It's a little not so neutral when you say that the film is considered a good interpretation of the indigenous story. When you say Caro was chosen to shoot her first Hollywood film, maybe you could include info on who chose her. You could cite the part about her latest film, McFarland. Another great thing is you got plenty of citations. You mentioned the part about Caro changing her interest to filmmaking. I think you could include why, and move that to the Early life section. You've already got a table for her films. Nice job! Babyphilosopher (talk) 21:10, 29 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Peer Review edit

Hi there, I first wanna say that overall this page is quite good. There are few awkward sentence structures I'd like to point out and you can make the changes if you'd like. It might be a good idea to put a comma between Nike and Tower Insurance in the second line in the career section as oxford commas work well grammatically. For film or television pages that do not have a wikipedia link, linking to the IMDB page works as well. Changing “be as much” to “be just a much” in the paragraph on Whale Rider would make it flow better. Changing “who were being trained to be leaders” to “who have been trained to be leaders” would be good as well. Changing it to “through the men” rather than "through the males" is another change that could be good. Saying “Charlize Theron was later nominated” rather than “It was later nominated” would make more sense. The sentence structure for second last sentence in career section is somewhat awkward, a different structure would work better. Changing “will also be writing and directing” to “Caro is currently writing and directing” is something else you can do if you'd like. Putting the word "together" in front of “they have two daughters” would make the sentence flow better. I also made a few small grammatical changes, like adding a comma and changing woman to women. Other than that, the article looks great so far!

Filmography table edit

The user Gothicfilm removed vast amounts of content on the page without explanation despite being asked to do so. I have asked him/her to discuss here in my edit summaries but have gotten no response.--Taeyebar 18:43, 31 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Vast amounts? I removed a film from the table because it has not started principal photography. Filmography tables are to include films that have been made or at least started shooting. This is because we cannot be sure the film will be made, per WP:NFF and WP:CRYSTAL. The fact that the film has been announced is in the article body. And you are only here because of your announced intention to stalk my edits. - Gothicfilm (talk) 23:19, 31 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
