Birder edit

Just came across this, in case anyone's interested...

The Journal of the Wildlife Sound Recording Society -- No. 2, Spring 1970
The Scotch Wildlife Sound Recording Competition, 1969.
On the 12th May the 3M Company held its prize presentation ceremony.
...
John then went on to introduce the principal guest, actor Nigel Stock, better known to me as Dr. Watson in the television Sherlock Holmes series. Of course Mr. Stock is also well lmown to cinema goers and theatre fans and is also known to many as a keen bird watcher.
Mr. Stock made an amusing speech recounting how he was introduced to his hobby and then went on to present the prizes. ...

Unfortunately that's all there is on Mr. Stock. BTW "Scotch" refers to the 3M brand, a leading make of magnetic tape at the time. Sadly the journal isn't available online, except to members of WSRS. --johantheghost (talk) 07:28, 28 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Bigamist? edit

"Personal life" section: He divorced his second wife in 1980 but married his third in 1979? Some confusion with dates here, I fancy. Tim riley talk 11:27, 22 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, seconded - just noticed this too. I did a quick Google and Newspapers.com search, can't see anything obvious - perhaps an ancestry marriage license search would turn up something. In the meantime would suggest omitting one or other of the marriage end dates/start dates respectively since it's uncertain. Indieshack (talk) 00:15, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
