The operson is notable on several grounds:
They are the subject of a number of articles in respectable sources. In more than one article, the mere fact that you have been taught by the person is enough to score you a job. They've written various articles, books et al which are recognised as important to the development of mathematical finance. They were already in the list of notable quantitative analysts, and I started this article because is was anomalous that they were missing.
Professor El Karoui is a Chevalier de l'ordre de la légion d'honneur [3] , the highest honour in France, which to me is enough all by itself enough to suspect she is notable
Lastly, she has been in the French wikipedia for ages, no one has cited her as non-notable.
