Talk:Nichols Farms Historic District

organization

It's not clear to me if this is meant to be the Wikipedia article on "Nichols, Connecticut" (which currently redirects to here) and/or on "Nichols Farms" which also redirects to here. Unity, Connecticut is separate as is North Stratford, Connecticut. I think this article should be revised to be about Nichols Farms, if that is much different than Nichols (which should get a separate article if it is a current section). It can include a section on the "Nichols Farms Historic District" late in the article, which should focus on the surviving elements and their preservation at time of NRHP listing and since. That section could possibly be split off to a separate article if it is developed in more detail than makes sense in the main article about the place. It is confusing, currently, that this article is named "Nichols Farms Historic District" but it seems to be about the longer history and bigger area of Nichols and/or Nichols Farms. I'll pause for comments, otherwise then perhaps proceed with some re-organizing. --doncram 17:18, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Nichols Farms, or Nichols, is the same area and was previously called; Stratford, Lt. Judson's Farm, Old Farm, Unity, North Stratford and Amblersville before becoming a section of the town of Trumbull when it incorporated in 1797. The history of Nichols is included in the History of Trumbull page. If you want to reorganize the Nichols Farms NRHP page, help yourself, but please be sensitive to the area name changes. Hi Tomticker5. I see in your edit today that you changed link to the History of Trumbull, Connectict article to display as a "main" link rather than as a "see also" link. It's not a big deal, but I believe the meaning/usage of the "main" link is meant to go in the other direction, from the general article like History of Trumbull to the more detailed, expanded article about a narrower subject such as Nichols Farms. This Nichols Farms Historic District article is the "main", big article about the topic, which may be covered in briefer form within the History article (and get a main link from there). I think "see also" link is a more correct way to link to the History article from here. There are probably other options too. But I am happy to leave it up to you to consider these options. --doncram 18:20, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
