Good article, well referenced.

A few notes for future edits:

- in Munster in the 1570s Walsh did all he could to constrain the Earl of Desmond - this probably contributed to the second Desmond rebellion.

- He lived at Clonmore in Kilkenny, not Carlow.

- He was described by a contemporary as the wealthiest commoner in Munster.

- A long oration he delivered at the close of the 1585 parliament is in the state papers - I don't think it's been fully transcribed. It's standard commonwealth stuff.

- He had an heir - Thomas Walsh, I think. Much of the family's estate was confiscated under Cromwell and some descendants fled to France.

- He was hailed for his deathbed conversion to catholicism. David Rothe wrote at length on this episode and described Walsh as a persecutor of catholics who finally saw the light. Fairly heavy propaganda.

Are you sure the heraldic arms are correct?
