There seems to be some variation in the year of birth given in various articles about Gen. Herkimer. Some more recent and reputable sources seem to agree on 1728. Older sources give a range from 1715 to 1720. I agree that 1728 does seem late when we read of him as a wizened old soldier at the Battle of Oriskany in 1777. But I guess 49 was considered pretty old at the time. Nonenmac 01:14, 25 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, bob. If we have good references for the dates, we should briefly mention the discrepancy in the article. 165.189.91.148 18:15, 28 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Legacy edit

I don't know if this warrants being placed in the Legacy section, but during World War II a liberty ship was named after Gen. Herkimer. My father served on the USS Nicholas Herkimer.--Karenthewriter (talk) 18:54, 24 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
